Family Photoshoot in London
Freaquently Asked Questions
What does the photoshoot look like?
It’s relaxed and natural. We either go for an outdoor adventure full of exploring, playing, laughter & snuggles or you stay in and I document your everyday in the comfort of your home. My sessions don’t require posing or awkward smiling for the camera, but instead I’ll capture your family’s love and connection, the silly, the chaotic and the sweet moments. Once your booking is confirmed I will send you a Welcome Pack to give you an idea of what the session will look like and tips for how to prepare and what to wear to make this a stress-free experience for you and your family!
What should I wear at the photoshoot?
Something comfortable that makes you feel & look good! If you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, you will be more relaxed and your expressions will be more natural. I always suggest to wear neutral colours and simple patterns. It’s best to avoid bright colours, characters on children’s clothing, big logos and anything that will distract from the main subject of the photo… you! When you book your session you will receive a Welcome Pack with guidance on what to wear with lots of inspiration for both in-home and outdoor shoots! You can also lay out your outfits and send me a text if you need a second opinion.
My children/partner are not the biggest fans of photoshoots
That sounds familiar. Many people associate photoshoots with awkward posing, forced smiles and lots of pressure. Lifestyle photography is exactly the opposite! During the session you don’t have to look at the camera at all. I let my inner comedian come out to make you all feel relaxed and comfortable. My goal is to let you be YOU without unnecessary pressure.
What if my children don’t behave?
Well I have two little munchkins of my own so I know a few good tricks to make them feel comfortable at the beginning and throughout the session. I also know how to encourage those natural, beautiful giggles (apparently toddlers find me hilarious which counts as an extra point)! If a child has enough, I will suggest a break during which I can photograph parents, another sibling etc. I let my sessions flow organically, following the children’s needs. If your baby decides to cry throughout the whole session, we’ll focus on sweet tender moments when you comfort them.
Is my house/flat good enough?
Does it have windows? Then it is! I photograph using natural light only because it’s the most flattering and authentic light. Before the session, try to declutter the rooms we’ll be shooting in (most likely bedrooms, living room, kitchen, conservatory) and hide cables and products with big logos on them. Don’t worry too much about it all as during the shoot I will move things out of sight if they turn out to be distracting.
Do you have a contract?
No, by booking your session you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you have any questions about them, please let me know.
When should I book a session?
Maternity - as soon as you’ve decided we should put the date around weeks 30 - 35.
Newborn - let me know your baby’s due date and so I can block out a few times for you around that date. Once the baby is born we can confirm the date.
Any other session - as soon as possible to ensure availability, particularly in the summer and before Christmas.
How do I book a photoshoot?
For booking your shoot, please contact me via my contact page or reach out to me via Facebook or Instagram. The booking will be confirmed once the £150 non-refundable session fee has been paid. By booking your session you agree to the Terms & Conditions.
Cancellation/rescheduling policy
If you’re ill or have booked an outdoor photoshoot but it’s raining you can reschedule free of charge. If you need to reschedule for any other reason, please do so no later than 48 hours before session, or you will not be able to reschedule to another date. You may reschedule one time only. If you're late for the outdoor photoshoot please note I will not extend the session time of the session which might result in less high quality photographs for you to choose from.
How to prepare for a newborn session?
All you have to do is put the heating on. We want the bubba to feel nice and warm. Try to declutter the rooms we’ll be shooting in (most likely the bedroom, nursery and living room) and hide cables and products with big brands on them. If you don’t even get a chance to do that (been there) then don’t worry - I will move things out of sight if necessary to avoid distractions. There you go, I offer a cleaning and photography service in one!
I’m interested in an outdoor photoshoot but not sure where.
For local outdoor shoots I know a number of wonderful locations in near Croydon and other parts of London. These spacious public places are not crowded and are easily accessible via public transport or a car. Once your booking is confirmed we will discuss the location requirements.
If you fancy an adventurous photoshoot in other parts of England - give me a shout! Have a think of what kind of vibe you want your photoshoot to have (e.g. romantic, adventurous, rustic, modern) and we’ll figure it out! I’m excited about discovering new locations.
When will we see our photos?
I personally hand edit every image that I include in your gallery. Galleries are delivered in a 7-14 day time frame but I usually share a sneak peek of the session images much quicker because I appreciate how exciting seeing them is!
How long will it take to get my prints and albums?
I work with a professional lab and it usually takes about 2-4 weeks to receive the albums. If you have a specific deadline please let me know and I’ll do my best to meet it! Prints are usually delivered much quicker (up to 2 weeks).
How many pictures will we receive?
It depends on the Collection you choose, and if you decide to purchase additional images (£20 per digital image).
How will our pictures be delivered?
You will receive a link to a beautiful private downloadable gallery. That’s where you can choose which photographs you would like to receive as part of your package and select additional images for purchase. At the same time you can also decide which photographs you would like to have printed as part of the package. You can share this link with your family and friends. The gallery will be active for 2 weeks so please make sure you download your pictures!
The prints and albums will be delivered via Royal Mail (postage cost included in the package).
What are the prices?
It depends on the Collection, and if you decide to choose an add-on to your package to purchase more images. If you need something different, just tell me what you are looking for and I will work up a customised quote.
What’s the deal with the prints and albums?
My approach to prints and albums is unique. Not many photographers offer professionally printed products as part of their packages. I want you to have physical high quality keepsakes to place on the coffee table, in a frame, keep on a shelf or share with your family.
The albums can be customised too, you can choose what size, cover material and colour you would like, which images you wish to include and I’ll do the rest. I design the albums with simple and clean page layouts that focus on showcasing your dearest photographs.
Where are you located? Do you travel for sessions?
I’m located in Croydon, South London, UK. I cover the whole borough (Coulsdon, Purley, South Norwood, Norbury, New Addington, Thornton Heath and others) as well as surrounding boroughs: Bromley, Lambeth, Southwark, Sutton, Merton. I travel to other parts of London, Brighton and all across Surrey, Kent, Sussex too, Please note locations outside Croydon area might require a small travel fee (see below).
What are your travel fees?
The travel fees will depend on the shoot location. Photoshoots within London Borough of Croydon will not require travel fees. Please get in touch to receive a specific estimation.
Will my photos be posted on the Internet?
By booking your session you agree to the Terms & Conditions covering all aspects of our work. By default you agree that I can publish your photos for example on this website and/or social media, but I will never share your personal details or pictures you’re not comfortable sharing. I usually publish up to 5 photos per shoot. Please note at any point you change your mind and opt out - in that case just let me know and your photos will not be published.
