Why at home?

Your home becomes a special place when you bring your baby to the world. It’s the place where you spend most of the time together. It’s the place where many firsts will happen. It’s the place where you feel comfortable and safe, so it's a perfect environment to capture your first days and weeks together as a new family.

How to prepare?

I’ve got some good news. There isn’t actually much you have to do before the session! Decluttering is an important step but please, no deep cleaning! A bit of dust on a shelf or a stained carpet won’t be visible in the photographs. Removing unnecessary items from the rooms where we shoot is more important but even if that doesn’t happen (due to all newborn related reasons), I’ll make sure to move things away from the frame to avoid distractions in your beautiful photographs.

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a Welcome Guide with more tips on how to prepare and guess what - ‘don’t stress’ is number one on that list!

What to expect on the day?

Every session is slightly different because I create a personalised plan that suits your family’s needs. A photoshoot with your first baby will look slightly different to a session with a newborn and a toddler (if that applies to you - have a look at this blog to find out more about my approach to newborn sessions with older siblings :-))

What I can guarantee is that your session will be relaxed. We’ll follow your baby’s needs. And there will be no awkward smiles to the camera. Instead, I’ll guide you gently to create a relaxed environment where you can be yourself and cuddle, chat, play, laugh, kiss and genuinely enjoy this time together as a family. These moments make the best photographs because they bring back memories. They’re more than just pretty images to hang on the wall. Some of the photographs we’ll create will help you remember how you felt when you held your baby or sniffed her head or the sound of your toddler’s giggle… and to me, it is priceless.

After the session

You’ll receive a sneak peek and an online gallery of your best images will be ready within two weeks. Once you review it, you’ll be able to purchase a Collection of your choice to make sure you keep the images you truly love. Most families choose the Album Collection because holding memories in your hands is a real experience. It’s a way to preserve your memories for generations. Something you will do on your own and with your loved ones. Something you’ll do many, many times over the years and each time you go back to your photo album, you will be reminded of the emotions from that moment again.

When to book

To ensure availability, please contact me a few weeks before your due date. We’ll pencil in a date and confirm a specific date once your baby arrives. Your newborn photoshoot can happen anytime within eight weeks from birth. That’s right. Not two weeks like most studio photographers require. The reason is that we will not be posing your baby so she/he doesn’t have to be sleepy or stretchy. That’s just another beautiful thing about documenting your new baby at home - it can happen any time, whenever you are ready.
